A series of local organizations were among the 25 statewide recipients of grants aimed to enhance environmental projects, ComEd announced last month. The utility, working in partnership with Illinois environmental advocacy program Openlands, will provide grant funding to the Evanston-based Mitchell Museum of the American Indian as well as the village of Wilmette and Glenview and the Glenview Park District as part of the 2023 Com Ed Green Region program. The stated goal of the initiative, which began in 2012, is to assist in preservation efforts, ease climate change and improve safety of habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, according to a statement.
