The first Winterfest, a fundraiser at the Glenview Community Ice Center, drew an estimated 2,000 people to the launch event on Jan. 28. Winterfest benefited the Glenview Park Foundation. According to the Glenview Park District, since the Glenview Park Foundation was founded in 1996, the foundation has raised more than $2.3 million via private and public donations plus fundraiser events. Recent philanthropy by the Glenview Park Foundation include the Megatherium Club Exhibit at the Grove Interpretive Center, the Synnestvedt Arboretum sculpture, improvements at Glenview Park Golf Club and the Jackman Park renovation, also according to the Park District.
