First, I was happy to see this franchise in this area. It was so unexpected. I had ordered sweet and sour pork, and stir fried black bean noodle for to-go. They taste, like nothing of this franchise. Sweet and sour pork is dry, sauce isn't sweet and sour, it tastes like rotten Napa cabbage, meaning they do not use fresh vegetables. Their stir fried black bean noodles were so dry and not tasty so I threw it away near full. Owner lady was kind but restaurants should have the taste on its priority, first. As a traveler in Glenview, Illinois who grew up in k-town, Los Angeles, this place taste needs improvement.

Let me begin with I am about as Midwest as you can get. Korean food was not on my list of "Let's go" food types. I like to try new things but... We saw a review on TV and it looked interesting. They are close so it seemed like why not. We went in and got such a warm welcome I had to look behind me to see who they were so excited to see. I should mention they were quite busy when we arrived. Everyone was very friendly and took as much time as needed to explain dishes and in one case once our food arrived how to best enjoy it. A second visit was for take out and was much the same except I had a clue what I wanted. I think Paik's will be here quite a long time. Any restaurant that is so friendly, has such food food at very reasonable pricing is going to be part of the local neighborhood for a long time to come.
